Professional Inventory Providers

Complaints

Hearings are held to consider more serious breaches or matters where it has not been appropriate to deal with through NFOPP’s internal disciplinary procedures.  If matters are dealt with internally they will not be published whatever the sanction(s) applied.

Tribunals are selected from the Tribunal Panel, and comprise:
  • Two property professionals. One shall act as chairman of the Tribunal, and one shall have experience of the relevant property discipline.
  • One lay member.
Sanctions available to the Tribunal and Appeals Tribunal

In order of seriousness:
  • Caution;
  • Formal warning;
  • A fine not exceeding £5000;
  • Reclassification of membership, or expulsion from membership.
Whether sanctions imposed by a Tribunal/Appeals Tribunal are published and members’ divisional branches informed depends on their level of severity. The Publications Policy can be obtained from the Regulation Department by emailing: regulation@nfopp.co.uk

What type of knowledge or experience must an inventory provider have in order to obtain membership?

Before an inventory provider can become an accredited member they must be able to prove to the Association’s satisfaction that they have had at least six months practical experience of carrying out all the processes relating to the inventory preparation as well as the check in and check out. Following this they can either elect to take the test following an advanced course or can opt to take a the introductory full days training and then the advanced course and the test. An experienced inventory provider may opt to go straight to the examination.
